Shonda D. Achord, O.D.
Dr. Shonda Doucet Achord is a Gonzales native. She graduated from St. Amant High School and is an alumni of Louisiana State University, where she earned her bachelor's degree. After graduating from LSU, Dr. Achord attended the University of Houston College of Optometry (UHCO) in Houston, Texas, where she earned her Doctor of Optometry degree. While at UHCO, she was nominated to be a member of Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Fraternity and was the recipient of the Contact Lens Achievement Award for outstanding performance in contact lens clinic. She was also recognized for clinical excellence with particular proficiency in the areas of allergic eye disease and pathology. Dr. Achord has been in practice serving the greater Baton Rouge area since 1992, and she established the Achord Eye Clinic in February of 2000. She currently specializes in difficult to fit contact lens cases, and is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Optometry Association of Louisiana.
Lacie D. Truitt, O.D.
Dr. Lacie D. Truitt, is a native of Baton Rouge. She received her bachelor's degree from Louisiana State University, majoring in biological sciences and minoring in communication studies. Dr. Truitt earned her Doctor of Optometry with clinical honors from Southern College of Optometry (SCO) in Memphis, Tenn. While at SCO, she was nominated for office in the Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society, elected class president, and served on medical mission trips to Mexico and Belize with Student Volunteers to the Optometric Service of Humanity. Dr. Truitt completed clinical training with emphasis on primary eye care, pediatrics, contact lens fitting, ocular disease management, geriatrics, low vision, vision therapy, and peri-operative care. After graduation Dr. Truitt completed an Optometric Residency program in Family Practice Optometry and has recently served on a medical mission trip to Haiti. She is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Optometry Association of Louisiana.
